Recently completed mural in Bailieborough, Co. Cavan ?

This piece was commissioned by the amazing team at the newly refurbished Bailieborough Bridewell and Courthouse. The brief was to create a mural that celebrates Bailieborough’s rich cultural heritage while also becoming a modern, engaging landmark for the town and the Bridewell centre.

Check the video for the progress:

At the heart of the mural is local historian, archaeologist, folklorist and teacher Tom Barron, who recognised the importance of the remarkable Corleck Head, along with many other significant archaeological discoveries in the area.

The stone bridge, with its three differently coloured archways, represents the Gael, Ulster-Scots, and English traditions that have helped shape the local community over generations.

The brief also called for a number of fun and interactive elements, including a faux swing for photos, a signpost to local heritage sites, a “Welcome to Bailieborough” feature, plus recognisable landmarks and local wildlife woven throughout the design.

It was an absolute pleasure working on this mural, chatting with passers-by, and feeling all the positivity from the community while painting.

If you’re ever passing through Bailieborough, I’d highly recommend stopping by the fascinating museum at the Bridewell, it’s well worth a visit.

Big thanks to The Walls Project for getting me involved in such a brilliant project ?
