Recently commissioned mural in Castleisland, Co. Kerry.
This project stands as one of my largest to date, covering an expansive canvas of over 150 square meters, the biggest mural ever painted in Kerry. To bring it to life, I spent nearly two weeks in Kerry, fully immersing myself in the process. During my stay, I had the privilege of lodging at Anne’s BnB. Though she no longer runs it as a guesthouse, anyone who had the chance to stay with Anne over the years was truly lucky. She was an absolute gem, kind, welcoming, and full of warmth.

Robert McGuire
Working closely with local historian and archaeologist Robert McGuire. We meticulously designed a piece that brings the area’s rich medieval history to life. Drawing inspiration from key historical events. We focused on the 1580 battle at the castle, where the Earl of Desmond played a pivotal role. Through careful research and discussion, we ensured that every detail in the artwork reflects the depth and significance of this storied past.

This massive canvas is uniquely positioned on the site of the original castle walls, allowing history and art to merge in a powerful way. Some remnants of the old structure still stand, offering a tangible connection to the past. As you take in the mural, you can almost feel the echoes of the castle’s history. Making this piece not just a painting, but a tribute to the stories embedded in the very stones beneath it.
