Busy Being Born Mural created at Hit The North 2025
Fresh off the walls of Belfast, painted over an unforgettable weekend at the incredible Hit the North festival.
The Busy Being Born mural is something that’s been living in my head and heart for a long time. Inspired in part by that unforgettable Bob Dylan lyric—“He not busy being born is busy dying”—it’s always felt like a powerful reminder to keep evolving, creating, and pushing forward. That line has been a kind of mantra for me, especially during times when I’ve felt stuck or lost. A lyrical kick up the arse, as they say.
But this piece carries an even deeper meaning. It was also inspired by my dad, who sadly passed away a few years ago. He was someone who lived with quiet strength and purpose, and his influence still shapes how I see the world. This mural is, in many ways, a tribute to him, an expression of growth, resilience, and the constant process of becoming.
Massive thanks to Adam Turkington, EMIC, Rob Hilton, Zippy, and the whole Seedhead Arts crew for helping bring this vision to life, and for fostering such an incredible creative space. The launch was soundtracked by a stunning four-hour set from the legendary David Holmes, making the day feel even more special. David Holmes.

Also, a big shoutout to my painting neighbours, Ona and Molly. You made the wall-time even better.
