Creating Art with Community Engagement: A Tribute to Youth and History at Dunamaise Arts Centre
I had the incredible opportunity to design a piece of art inspired by local community groups, with a special focus on youth workshops and community engagement. This project was shaped by the vibrant creativity and imagination of young participants, which set the tone for a bright, fun, and engaging artwork that reflects the energy of our community.
The Dunamaise Arts Centre, located in the historic former county jail built in 1798, provided the perfect backdrop for this artistic journey. I incorporated subtle references to the building’s rich history, blending past and present in the design to celebrate the connection between tradition and contemporary creativity.
It was truly a pleasure to collaborate on this amazing project with such a talented and dedicated team. The project was kindly supported by Creative Ireland and Creative Ireland Laois, whose support helped bring this vision to life.
